Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is seeking Casual Health Care Workers to join the Tambo Acute Medical/Surgical Ward to provide dedicated 1:1 support for patients with complex behaviours. Working alongside nursing and allied health teams, you'll build positive relationships, provide companionship, support patient wellbeing and help create a safe, calm and supportive hospital environment.

 

The Contract: Multiple Casual contracts

A key requirement of this role is availability to work across 7 days a week and perform a variety of shifts.

 

The Role:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for patients with complex behaviours
  • Build trust through companionship and meaningful conversation
  • Support personal care, mobility and daily living activities
  • Use diversional activities tailored to patient interests, abilities and mood
  • Recognise changes in behaviour and respond with a person centred approach

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability Support or equivalent qualification is preferred 
  • Experience in healthcare, aged care or disability support is highly desirable
  • Compassionate, patient and person-centred approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to recognise and appropriately escalate changes in a patient's condition
  • Current Basic Life Support competency is desirable
