This is a newly created leadership opportunity for an experienced Manager – Safety & Security to shape and lead BRHS’s approach to workplace safety, emergency preparedness and security. Reporting at a senior level, the role offers the chance to drive meaningful improvement and embed a strong, proactive safety culture across a dynamic regional health service.

 

About the role

Reporting to the Operational Director – Workforce, this senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff, patients, visitors and the broader BRHS community.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and continuously improving BRHS’s Occupational Health & Safety Management System
  • Driving emergency preparedness, response and business continuity planning
  • Overseeing the Occupational Violence Prevention framework
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Security Team
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, accreditation standards and best practice
  • Partnering with leaders and teams across the organisation to foster a strong safety culture

 

About you

You are a confident, collaborative leader who brings both strategic thinking and practical delivery.

 

You will have:

  • A minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety or Emergency Management (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)
  • Significant experience in OHS, emergency management or safety leadership (health sector experience desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation, risk management and incident investigation
  • Experience developing and implementing emergency management plans and training
  • Knowledge of security operations and systems (e.g. access control, duress and alarms)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A solutions‑focused approach and the ability to lead change in complex environments
