Ready to take the next step as a Nurse Practitioner Candidate in a thriving regional ED? Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) is seeking an experienced Emergency Nurse to join our team in a rewarding 12‑month parental leave position, commencing May 2026.
The Contract: Fixed Term Part Time, 64 hours per fortnight (until May 2027)
About the Role:
As a Nurse Practitioner Candidate, you will deliver expert emergency care to a diverse patient population, working closely with a supportive multidisciplinary team. You’ll collaborate with Endorsed Nurse Practitioners and Senior Medical Officers while building your advanced practice capability, with strong opportunities to contribute to clinical leadership, evidence-based care, and quality improvement initiatives.
About the Emergency Department:
Our Emergency Department provides care to the Bairnsdale and East Gippsland community, managing approximately 23,000 presentations each year. The service includes a 5-bed Short Stay Unit and a dedicated fast-track area supporting Nurse Practitioner-led care. The team comprises ED Senior Medical Officers, HMOs, interns, VMOs, and a well-established Nurse Practitioner group — a valued feature in a regional setting — creating a highly collaborative, supportive, and education-focused environment.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Qualifications & Registration: Current AHPRA registration and evidence of enrolment or commitment to completing a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (or equivalent)
- Emergency Nursing Expertise: At least 5 years’ experience in emergency nursing, with demonstrated advanced clinical skills, ALS accreditation, and triage competence in keeping with undertaking an advanced practice role.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability to lead change, mentor colleagues and work both autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Clinical Excellence & Safe Practice: Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred care, safe prescribing practices, and continuous professional development.
