About the role

Latrobe Regional Health is seeking an experienced and visionary Clinical Director to Join our East Gippsland Mental Health & wellbeing Local Service Team on a Part-time/Full Time ongoing basis.

In this role, you will provide senior clinical leadership, psychiatric expertise, and governance oversight within a newly established integrated mental health service. Working in partnership with consortium partners, including Wellways Australia, Gippsland Lakes Complete Health, and Latrobe Regional Health, you will lead the development and delivery of safe, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centred care for adults and older adults experiencing mental health challenges. This influential leadership role combines clinical practice, service development, workforce leadership, governance, and strategic partnerships to drive improved mental health outcomes across East Gippsland.

The role of the Clinical Director is to:

  • Provide strategic clinical leadership and oversight of the East Gippsland Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Service, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed care.
  • Deliver specialist psychiatric assessment, consultation, clinical supervision, and expert advice for consumers experiencing complex mental health presentations, including co-occurring substance use challenges.
  • Lead clinical governance, quality improvement, risk management, policy development, incident review, and service evaluation activities to promote excellence in care delivery.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams through clinical leadership, workforce development, supervision, education, and the promotion of best-practice mental health care.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with consortium partners, health services, primary care providers, community organisations, consumers, carers, and people with lived experience to support integrated service delivery.
  • Contribute to regional mental health reform, service planning, and implementation of contemporary models of care that improve access, continuity, and outcomes for rural and regional communities.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Medical Practitioner with current AHPRA registration, a recognised medical degree (MBBS or equivalent), and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
  • Significant experience in public and/or community mental health, including senior clinical leadership within multidisciplinary service environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical governance, risk management, quality improvement, service development, and implementation of evidence-based mental health care.
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, Victorian mental health reform priorities, and contemporary recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across organisations and sectors.
  • Committed to culturally safe, equitable, and inclusive care, with a strong understanding of rural and regional mental health service delivery and meaningful engagement with Aboriginal communities.
