Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is the main provider of Mental Health services across the Gippsland region. We currently have exciting opportunities for Lived Experience Workers in Sale, Bairnsdale, Warragul and Latrobe Valley and travel will be required for all of these roles.

 

  • Carer Lived Experience Worker at Bairnsdale Community Mental Health 0.7EFT ongoing
  • 1 role is: Lived Experience Worker (Consumer) at Sale Community Mental Health 0.7EFT ongoing
  • 1 role: Lived Experience Worker (Consumer) at Latrobe Valley Community Mental Health 0.8EFT ongoing
  • 1 role: Lived Experience Worker (Consumer) at Warragul Community Mental Health 0.7EFT fixed term for 6 months

 

 

About you

 

This is a position for a person who has extensive, personal lived experience as a carer and supporter of a person or people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and who have utilised mental health services in their recovery. Drawing on your own life-changing experiences of mental illness and recovery to support other consumers who are receiving services from Latrobe Regional Health. The Consumer Lived Experience Worker supports and inspires hope in consumers.

With a focus on building mutual and reciprocal relationships where understanding and emotional, social, spiritual and physical wellbeing and recovery are possible. This is highly skilled and specialised work which requires ongoing supervision from experienced lived experience workers.

As part of the Lived Experience Workforce, you will use your lived experience of utilising service to support someone through service use and recovery. You will provide emotional and practical support, making it easier to navigate the mental health system, and inspiring confidence, optimism, and hope in others about the journey of recovery.

Ideal Candidates for this role will have:

 

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, Intentional Peer Support Training, or other peer workforce experience OR an undertraining to complete relevant education within 2 years of employment
  • Demonstrated practical understanding of the issues and concerns experienced by families, carers, and supporters of people experiencing mental health challenges and service use
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
