Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a Mental Health Promotion Officer to join our growing team on a part time (48 hours/fortnight) basis.

 

About the Role

The Specialist and Therapeutic Programs has a part time (0.6 EFT), ongoing opportunity available with our enthusiastic and dedicated Mental Health Promotions Team. This position will service the Wellington and East Gippsland communities, and can be based in either Sale or Bairnsdale.


This position includes provision of community–wide activities that provide information and education designed to enhance community understanding, increase the likelihood of identifying and addressing mental health problems and promote good mental health. These programs may be targeted towards specific at-risk communities or communities affected by trauma.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating leadership in the implementation and integration of evidence based mental health promotion practices incorporating recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System
  • Provide high level expertise and innovation in the development, implementation and evaluation of complex, evidence based, community-wide mental health promotion initiatives, that are reflective of state-wide and local priorities.
  • Assist in the planning, development and delivery of mental health related education programs
  • Establish, foster and maintain close working links with relevant service providers to develop and maintain effective services to mental health carers.

About you

 

You are a compassionate, adaptable and highly organised clinician who thrives in a collaborative community setting and is committed to mental health promotion. 

 

You will bring:

  • Registration as one of the following:
    • Registered Nurse Division 1 (with postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing)
    • Occupational Therapist (AHPRA registered)
    • Psychologist (AHPRA registered)
    • Social Worker (eligible for AASW membership)
  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience within mental health services
  • Demonstrated understanding and application to practice of the social determinants of health in a health promotion context including mental health promotion principles
  • High level capability in developing, implementing and evaluating complex health promotion initiatives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with families and stakeholders
  • Current driver’s licence

Desirable

  • Post graduate studies in health promotion or equivalent
    • Tertiary qualifications in health promotion and /or community development
    • Project management qualifications
    • Knowledge and interest in systems-based practice
    • Teaching qualification such as Cert IV education and training or higher
    • Hold instructor status & licence to deliver the suite of Mental Health First Aid Courses
