Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Aboriginal Health Unit Project Officer to join our growing on a full time (1.0EFT) fixed term basis until 21 September 2027.

 

The Aboriginal Health Unit Project Officer is an exciting opportunity to join the Aboriginal Health Unit at Latrobe Regional Health and contribute to meaningful work that improves outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities. This diverse role combines project coordination, administration and stakeholder engagement, supporting initiatives that strengthen cultural safety, workforce development and Aboriginal health outcomes across the organisation.

 

Working closely with the Aboriginal Health Unit Manager, you will support the delivery of key organisational priorities, including the implementation of LRH's Aboriginal Employment Plan, Aboriginal Cultural Safety initiatives and a range of projects aligned with the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

The role of the Aboriginal Health Unit Project Officer is to:

  • Provide high-level administrative and project support to the Aboriginal Health Unit, including meeting coordination, agenda preparation, minute-taking and support for daily operational activities.
  • Coordinate, analyse and report on health and employment data to support informed decision-making and organisational reporting requirements.
  • Support the implementation and review of LRH's Aboriginal Employment Plan, working collaboratively with People & Culture, Education and Training, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the delivery of Aboriginal Cultural Safety initiatives, Fixed Grant activities and associated financial and reporting requirements.
  • Support the coordination of the Aboriginal Traineeship Program, including onboarding, orientation and engagement with education providers, Registered Training Organisations and community stakeholders.
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects, cultural safety initiatives and activities that support LRH's Aboriginal Health priorities and organisational objectives.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Experience providing administrative, project or program support in a professional environment.
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, analysis and reporting to support organisational outcomes.
  • An understanding of cultural safety principles and the cultural determinants of health affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach with a commitment to supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal communities.
