Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a ANUM to join our growing team on a permanent part-time basis.
About the Unit
The Parent and Infant Unit at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is a 5-bed, 5–6 cot residential service supporting families with infants up to 12 months. With a therapeutic approach based on the Solihull model, attachment theory and mentalisation, the PIU provides specialised care to families experiencing challenges such as adjusting to parenthood, infant sleep or settling concerns, relationship ruptures with infants, or post-natal mood disorders.

About the Role
As an Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM), you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, family-centred and evidence-based care. You will support the Nurse Unit Manager and provide advanced clinical oversight, staff leadership, and coordination of daily operations within a 7-day rotating roster.
This role is ideal for a clinical leader with a passion for perinatal mental health and a commitment to creating positive outcomes for parents and their infants.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Leadership
- Provide senior nursing leadership to uphold high clinical practice standards
- Promote effective communication across multidisciplinary teams
- Support collaborative, culturally safe and person-centred care
- Deliver advanced clinical guidance supporting perinatal and infant care
Management & Coordination
- Contribute to quality documentation, audits, KPIs and service development
- Mentor and supervise staff, providing professional leadership and support
- Represent the unit on committees and working groups
- Assist in recruitment, orientation and staff development
Workforce & Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day staffing, workflow, and HR processes
- Support mandatory training, education programs and performance reviews
- Manage poor performance where required
Safe Practice & Quality
- Ensure adherence to safety, OHS, infection control and emergency procedures
- Promote safe working environments and compliance with LRH policies
- Participate in incident management and safety audits
Continuous Improvement
- Lead and participate in quality improvement and research activities
- Encourage evidence-based practice and continuous staff development
About You
You are an experienced and compassionate clinical leader who thrives in a collaborative, family-centred environment. You demonstrate integrity, strong communication skills, adaptability and empathy.
Essential Qualifications
- Registered Nurse Division 1 with post-basic psychiatric nursing qualification OR
- RN Division 1 with post-basic midwifery/paediatrics qualification and commitment to complete psychiatric training
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in management
Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years clinical experience
- Recent experience working with parents and infants in the perinatal period
- Strong leadership and team-building capability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022
- Understanding of NSQHS standards
Desirable
- Leadership or management experience in a clinical setting
