Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Associate Nurse Unit Manager (Agnes) to join our growing team on a Fixed Term Part Time basis – 0.5 FTE, until August 2027.

 

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to support clinical leadership and operational management within the Flynn Unit. In this role, you will work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager to deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health care, ensuring person-centred outcomes in a safe and recovery-focused environment. You will play a key role in leading staff, coordinating care delivery, and promoting best practice—particularly in reducing restrictive interventions and embedding trauma-informed, non-coercive care

The role of the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (Agnes) is to:

  • Provide clinical leadership and support the Nurse Unit Manager in the coordination and delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based mental health care.
  • Lead and supervise staff, supporting workforce development, clinical supervision, and a positive team culture within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Ensure care delivery is recovery-oriented, person-centred, and aligned with strategies to reduce seclusion and restraint.
  • Monitor and manage clinical risk, including assessment, care planning, incident management, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support effective resource management, including staffing, financial oversight, and operational coordination to meet service demands.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and organisational policies, including the Mental Health Act and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Registered Nurse (Division 1 or Division 3) with AHPRA registration and postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven leadership experience in a mental health or inpatient setting, with the ability to mentor, support, and develop staff.
  • Strong clinical expertise, including risk assessment, care planning, and management of complex mental health presentations.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, frameworks, and standards, including the Mental Health Act and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and complex environment.
  • Committed to continuous improvement, professional development, and delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
