Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a dedicated Cardiac Sonographer to join the Cardiology Department on an ongoing, full time basis


The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for the independent performance of high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), including inpatient, outpatient, and urgent settings. The role includes active participation in stress echocardiograms in collaboration with Cardiologists, and contribution to diagnostic accuracy through preliminary reporting. 

 

The position supports a culture of safety, clinical excellence, and patient-centred care within the Cardiology Department at LRH. The position may include the opportunity to expand training into Cardiac Tech role (i.e., Cath Lab and Holter reporting). 

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Current and ongoing accreditation with the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR). 
  • Completion of an accredited postgraduate qualification in Cardiac Ultrasound (e.g., Graduate Diploma or Master's).
  • Experience with contrast echocardiography, bubble studies, or TOE support. 
  • Previous work in a public hospital or tertiary health setting. 
  • Familiarity with HealthTrack and digital imaging sytems (e.g., PACS).
  • Demonstrated competence in independently performing transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs). 
  • Experience assisting with or performing stress echocardiography. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation and patient education. 
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a regional health environment. 
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development and quality improvement. 
  • Experience using ultrasound platforms such as Philips, GE or Siemens is desirable.
