Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Internal & Digital Communications Officer to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) ongoing basis.
The Clinical Applications Manager provides strategic leadership across Latrobe Regional Health’s clinical information systems, leading the Clinical Applications Team and managing the lifecycle of clinical software applications. This role bridges clinical practice and information technology to ensure systems are safe, effective and aligned with organisational priorities, the Gippsland Health Alliance digital health agenda and the Victorian Digital Health Roadmap. With accountability for clinical application strategy, integration with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), governance, and service development, the position plays a critical role in driving digital transformation to improve clinical quality, safety and operational efficiency.

The role of the Clinical Applications Manager is to:
- Provide strategic clinical IT leadership, identifying and implementing digital solutions that enhance clinical care, safety and efficiency across LRH.
- Manage the clinical applications portfolio, including lifecycle planning for upgrades, integrations, replacements and retirement of legacy systems.
- Lead integration of clinical applications with the EMR to reduce data fragmentation, duplicate entry and clinical risk.
- Oversee delivery of clinical systems projects, including business cases, testing, governance and benefits realisation.
- Provide leadership and management of the Clinical Applications Team, including workforce planning, capability development and performance oversight.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with clinical leaders, ICT teams, vendors and regional partners, ensuring alignment with digital health strategy and compliance requirements.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Significant experience managing clinical information systems, EMR platforms or clinical application portfolios within a healthcare setting.
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in clinical IT, digital health or health informatics environments.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows, system integration (e.g. HL7, FHIR) and health data standards, with the ability to translate clinical needs into digital solutions.
- Experience in vendor management, procurement and contract negotiation for clinical systems.
- High‑level organisational, strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in IT, Health Informatics or Digital Health, project management certification, and/or a clinical background (desirable).
