Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for multiple dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant – Diabetes Education to join our growing team on an ongoing, full-time basis. In this senior clinical role, you will provide leadership within the diabetes specialty, delivering expert education, clinical guidance, and care coordination for patients with diabetes across inpatient and outpatient settings.

 

You will work collaboratively with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualised care plans, promote self-management strategies, and optimise health outcomes. This role also involves contributing to policy development, clinical research, and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring our services meet best-practice standards and enhance patient care across the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist diabetes education, assessment, care planning, and review for inpatients, outpatients, and their families/carers.
  • Act as a clinical resource and advisor to the multidisciplinary team on best-practice diabetes care and management.
  • Facilitate the development, implementation, and review of policies, procedures, and patient education materials.
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement activities, research projects, and professional development initiatives.
  • Support beginning practitioners and promote evidence-based practice in diabetes management.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Postgraduate qualification in Diabetes Education (ADEA approved) or working towards completion.
  • Advanced clinical skills and knowledge in the care of patients with diabetes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to patient-centred care, cultural sensitivity, and holistic health approaches.
  • Ability to contribute to research, policy development, and quality improvement activities.
  • Proficiency in Windows-based computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Credentialed status with ADEA or working towards, plus experience in paediatrics and/or obstetric (desirable)
