Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Clinical Resource Manager to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) ongoing basis.

 

The Clinical Resource Manager is a senior nursing leadership role responsible for ensuring the Operating Suites deliver high-quality, safe and cost-effective patient care. Reporting to the General Manager Surgical Services, the role supports the Operating Suite Nurse Unit Manager to achieve surgical service targets and align theatre operations with LRH’s strategic objectives. The position provides expert clinical leadership and advice on equipment, consumables and inventory management, overseeing complex budgets and a 24/7 inventory model. Through close collaboration with clinical staff, supply, finance, biomedical and external supplies, the Clinical Resource Manger ensures optimal use of resources, supports innovation and clinical trials, and drive value-based procurement and inventory practices.

The role of the Clinical Resource Manager is to:

  • Lead clinical resource and inventory management across Operating Suites, ensuring sustainable 24/7 service delivery while reducing costs, waste and obsolete stock.
  • Manage complex budgets, business cases and inventory models in collaboration with Finance and Supply departments to optimise savings and clinical outcomes.
  • Provide expert oversight of surgical equipment and consumables, including procurement, trials, audits, maintenance, replacement planning and asset register management.
  • Facilitate specialist surgical procurement, vendor negotiations and participation in Health Purchasing Victoria tenders, including evaluation of supplier performance and lead times.
  • Lead and evaluate clinical trials, audits and high-cost item tracking, ensuring compliance with recognised health, safety and manufacturing standards.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, with substantial experience in the operating suite or surgical services environment.
  • Sound knowledge of surgical consumables, implantable items, base theatre equipment and inventory management principles.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, apply lean thinking, analyse data and develop business cases that balance financial sustainability with clinical excellence.
  • Strong leadership capability, including resource coordination, change management, critical thinking and support for staff development and wellbeing.
