Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for Consultation Liaison Mental Health Nurse to join our growing team on a part-time (0.4EFT) on a permanent basis providing specialist mental health support and consultation across our partner health services in Warragul and Wonthaggi.

As the CLMHN, you will deliver expert psychiatric nursing consultation to general hospital staff in acute, surgical, sub-acute and emergency settings, supporting integrated and holistic care for patients experiencing mental health concerns.

The role of the Consultation Liaison Mental Health Nurse is:

  • Crisis assessment and early intervention in mental health presentations
  • Medication management and physical health screening
  • Support with withdrawal management and referral for drug and alcohol issues
  • Psychosocial follow-up and discharge planning
  • Liaison and education for hospital staff to strengthen capacity in mental health care
  • Providing advice and support for patient management across general wards

 

You will be co-located at Bass Coast Health in Wonthaggi and West Gippsland Healthcare Group in Warragul, offering on-site consultation liaison services and acting as a professional resource to both clinical staff and patients.

 

This role also contributes to education, training and professional development across LRH Mental Health Services, playing a key role in promoting high-quality, safe, and person-centred mental health care.

 

About you

You are a compassionate and adaptable mental health professional who brings strong clinical skills and a collaborative approach. You thrive on supporting others and working across disciplines to improve patient outcomes.

 

To be successful, you will have:

  • Registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN4) with a postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing, or an equivalent qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Pathology with current AHPRA registration or professional membership
  • Experience in assessment, planning and coordination of care for mental health consumers
  • A sound understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and related legislation
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

Experience in emergency or triage settings and computer literacy will be highly regarded.
