Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Director of Emergency Medicine to join our growing team full time (1.0EFT) ongoing basis.
The Director of Emergency Medicine provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership to ensure the delivery safe, high-quality, and person-centred emergency care. The role oversees clinical governance, quality and safety initiatives, and risk management while fostering a collaborative environment for medical, nursing, and allied health teams. The Director is responsible for workplace planning, staff development, and educational programs that strengthen clinical capability and maintain a strong culture of learning. Working closely with executive leaders and regional partners, the Director drives innovation, service integration, and improvement initiatives to meet the needs of the Gippsland community and support LRH’s role as a major regional provider.

The role of Director of Emergency Medicine is:
- Provide strategic leadership to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred emergency care aligned with LRH’s objectives.
- Oversee clinical governance, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and evidence-based best practice.
- Lead and support the multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Manage workforce planning, recruitment, rostering, supervision, and performance management of medical staff.
- Monitor and improve departmental performance, including clinical outcomes, patient flow, and operational efficiency.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives and implement strategies to enhance models of care and patient experience.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- MBBS or equivalent, with full registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in emergency medicine and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to patient-centred care.
- Proven ability to manage change, drive quality improvement, and deliver operational outcomes.
