Latrobe Regional Health is looking for a Family Carer Lived/Living Experience Coordinator to join our growing team on part time (0.8 EFT) ongoing basis.

The Family Carer Lived/Living Experience Coordinator is a senior role responsible for providing practice leadership, mentoring, and capacity-building support to the family/carer peer support workforce across LRH Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Services.

The role of the Family Carer Lived/Living Experience Coordinator is to:

• Mentoring, coaching, and supporting family/carer peer support workers to build their confidence, skills, and capacity in applying lived/living experience principles and practicing within the scope of their roles.
• Assisting with the orientation and training of new family/carer peer support team members.
• Facilitating regular co-reflection and reflective practice sessions with family/carer peer support workers to support wellbeing, shared learning, and continuous improvement in practice.
• Strengthening and streamlining family/carer referral pathways, and working with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure families, carers, and supporters are identified and engaged early and consistently.
• Modelling advanced peer support practice, including the purposeful and appropriate use of one’s lived experience to build trust and connection with families, carers, and supporters.
• Providing short-term and single-session family/carer peer support, including throughout feedback and complaints processes, as deemed appropriate.
• Participating in relevant committees, working groups, and systemic initiatives that promote the role, visibility, and influence of Family-Carer LLE leadership across LRH. 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

• Lived experience of supporting and caring for someone through mental health challenges, service use, and periods of recovery.
• Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Training, Certificate IV in Peer Support or a strong willingness to complete relevant peer training.
• Significant experience (approx. 2 years) working in a designated Lived Experience Family-Carer peer support role within a mental health service.
• Ability to articulate, model, and champion the guiding principles and values of Family-Carer Lived Experience work to a range of audiences.
• Demonstrated experience supporting the development of peer support colleagues, including new or less experienced team members.
• Demonstrated ability to strengthen referral pathways and working relationships across multidisciplinary and organisational boundaries.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult, liaise, and negotiate with multiple stakeholders.
