Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a General Manager – Acute and Bed Based Mental Health, to join our growing team on an ongoing full-time basis. In this role you will drive high-quality, recovery-focused mental health care across LRH’s acute and bed-based services.
About the Role
Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is seeking an accomplished and visionary leader to oversee its Acute and Bed Based Mental Health services. Reporting to the Executive Director Mental Health Services / Chief Mental Health Nurse, this role is responsible for leading high-performing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred, and recovery-oriented care.
The portfolio includes the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team (PECT), Flynn Adult Inpatient Unit, Macalister Aged Care Unit, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), Prevention and Recovery Care (PARCS), Community Residential Care Unit (CRCU), Agnes Parent and Infant Unit, Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU), and the Mental Health & AOD Hub and Youth PARCS.
As General Manager, you will provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and professional leadership to support LRH’s transformation agenda and the implementation of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of acute and bed-based mental health services to meet quality, safety, and financial targets.
- Collaborate with the mental health senior leadership team to achieve performance outcomes and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement strategic projects supporting service growth and innovation.
- Provide expert advice to the Executive and other senior stakeholders on service delivery, performance, and system reform.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, supporting staff wellbeing and professional development.

About you
You are an experienced mental health leader with proven capability in managing complex health services and leading multidisciplinary teams. You thrive on collaboration, innovation, and building high-performing, person-centred care environments.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, or Occupational Therapist, or a Social Work degree with AASW eligibility.
- Demonstrated senior management experience in mental health services.
- Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and performance outcomes.
- Strong understanding of public mental health operations, clinical governance, and funding models.
- Commitment to recovery-oriented practice, safety, and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate or Masters qualifications in health administration, leadership, or management.
- Familiarity with Victorian mental health reforms and service design initiatives.
