Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Mental Health Clinician – Infant, Child & Youth Regional Intake to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) ongoing basis.

 

The Mental Health Clinician – Infant, Child & Youth Regional Intake (ICYMHS) plays a critical frontline role in providing access to mental health services for infants, children, young people and their families across Gippsland. As part of a multidisciplinary intake team, the role delivers highquality triage, assessment and brief intervention services, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to referrals and mental health crises. Working within a recoveryoriented and traumainformed framework, the clinician coordinates intake processes, supports engagement with services and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure individuals receive the most appropriate care pathway.

The role of the Mental Health Clinician – Infant, Child & Youth Regional Intake is to:

  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, including phone triage, facetoface and crisis assessments for infants, children and young people.
  • Determine appropriate service responses by assessing risk, needs and eligibility, and facilitate referrals to internal or external services.
  • Deliver brief interventions, psychoeducation and consultation to families, carers and referring professionals.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to support coordinated, timely and effective service access.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to data collection, reporting and compliance with legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement, supervision, training and service development activities to enhance clinical practice and service delivery.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • A relevant qualification in Nursing (with mental health specialisation), Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Speech Pathology, with eligibility for AHPRA or relevant professional body registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in child and youth mental health, including risk assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks, including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and associated standards.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work autonomously in a complex environment.
  • A commitment to culturally safe, familyinclusive and traumainformed care, with ongoing professional development.
  • Postgraduate training in child and youth mental health and experience within specialist mental health services (desirable).
