Are you an Advanced Trainee seeking to broaden your expertise in Infectious Diseases within a leading regional health service? Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is offering an exceptional training opportunity where you will gain exposure to the full spectrum of infectious diseases practice while contributing to high-quality patient care.

This accredited position with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) supports fellowship requirements in Infectious Diseases Medicine. You’ll work across inpatient and outpatient settings, including Hospital in the Home, outpatient clinics, and infection prevention programs, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. This is a full time fixed term position until 31st January 2027.

About the Department

The Infectious Diseases Department is focused on providing quality care to the patients and wider community.  In Infectious Diseases will be provided with many exciting opportunities and experience a broad range of clinical practices and caseloads.  You will experience more one-on-one time with supervising Consultants and also see a rich range of presentations and be provided with many educational opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultative advice and management for medical and surgical inpatients requiring infectious diseases input, under supervision.
  • Attend and manage outpatient clinics, developing and implementing patient care plans.
  • Contribute to infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, and Hospital in the Home services.
  • Work collaboratively with the Gippsland Regional Public Health Unit in managing notifiable conditions.
  • Support teaching, supervision, and mentorship of junior doctors, Basic Physician Trainees, and medical students.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
  • Current general registration with AHPRA.
  • Registration as an Advanced Trainee with the RACP (having completed Divisional Written & Clinical Exams).
  • Completed and passed AMC Part 1 as a minimum (Part 2 is desirable)
  • Current driver’s licence.
