Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for an Integrated AOD / Mental Health Senior Clinician to join our growing team on a permanent full-time basis.
About the Role
You will play a pivotal leadership role supporting people with co-occurring mental health and substance use needs within the Mental Health AOD Hub.
This senior role works in close partnership with the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team (PECT) and Emergency Department, providing expert clinical leadership, consultation, education and supervision within a multidisciplinary environment.
As the Integrated AOD/Mental Health Senior Clinician, you will strengthen and integrate service responses for consumers with complex AOD and mental health presentations by:
- Providing leadership, direction and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary staff within the MH AOD Hub
- Working collaboratively with PECT clinicians and Emergency Department teams to implement the agreed model of care
- Delivering direct clinical care and advanced consultation for consumers with co-existing AOD and mental health needs
- Supporting staff through mentoring, professional leadership and role modelling best practice integrated care
- Partnering with Lived Experience workers to enhance consumer-centred care
- Attending Mental Health Triage meetings and providing expert consultation
- Providing consultation to external AOD services for complex presentations
- Facilitating and delivering integrated AOD/Mental Health education and training
- Contributing to service development, guidelines, protocols and quality improvement initiatives
- Strengthening links between Mental Health Services, specialist AOD services and the Hamilton Centre

About you
You are a skilled and compassionate senior clinician with a strong commitment to integrated, recovery-oriented care. You bring:
Essential Qualifications & Registration
- Division 1 Registered Nurse with a post-graduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing and current AHPRA registration OR
- A relevant qualification in Addiction Studies (or working towards)
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 3 years’ post-graduate experience following mental health specialist training
- Demonstrated experience working with consumers with complex co-occurring AOD and mental health needs
- Advanced knowledge of AOD withdrawal guidelines and medical approaches to withdrawal management
- Strong leadership capability within multidisciplinary clinical settings
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Sound understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and relevant legislation
- Knowledge of family violence frameworks (FVISS, CISS, MARAM)
- Ability to work autonomously while fostering collaborative, person-centred, strengths-based care
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (or willingness to complete)
- Experience delivering education and training packages
- Commitment to working alongside Lived Experience workers
- Knowledge of NSQHS Standards
- Experience with evidence-based therapeutic approaches including CBT, MET and family-inclusive practice
