Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in Gippsland, delivering patient-centred care across the region. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant to join our Occupational Therapy team within Allied Health on a full-time ongoing basis.
This rewarding role supports the health and wellbeing of adult inpatients by planning and facilitating leisure and recreation-based activities that promote psychological, social, spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, prioritising support for patients with behavioural or cognitive needs, and helping to enhance their quality of life during their stay at LRH.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individual and group activity programs that are meaningful and engaging for inpatients.
- Provide inclusive and holistic care tailored to the interests, preferences and abilities of each patient.
- Support and encourage patient participation in activities that enhance wellbeing.
- Assist patients with behavioural or cognitive support needs under the guidance of clinical staff.
- Maintain knowledge of community resources to assist patients with a smooth transition from hospital to home.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Certificate III in Aged Care, Certificate in Leisure and Health, or equivalent qualification.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Experience working as a Lifestyle Assistant, with strong skills in engaging patients in purposeful activities.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
- A compassionate, respectful and adaptable approach to patient care.
