Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Medical Oncologist to join our growing team on a part time ongoing basis.

 

The Medical Oncologist provides high-quality, patient-centred oncology care to patients of LRH across inpatient and outpatient settings. This senior specialist role is responsible for delivering evidence-based cancer treatment, supervising and training junior medical staff, and contributing to service development and strategic priorities within Cancer Services. Working within a multidisciplinary framework, the Medical Oncologist ensures safe, coordinated and compassionate care, promotes best-practice clinical standards, and actively supports continuous improvement, education and research within a regional health service setting.

The role of the Medical Oncologist is to:

  • Deliver high-quality medical oncology care to patients in accordance with clinical practice guidelines, safety standards and LRH policies across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Develop, implement and review individualised treatment plans that reflect patient needs, involve families and carers, and support continuity of care with community providers.
  • Ensure accurate, timely and legally compliant clinical documentation that supports effective communication, handover and ongoing patient care.
  • Provide leadership, supervision and education to junior medical staff, medical students and multidisciplinary learners, ensuring safe practice and professional development.
  • Participate in service planning, protocol development, audits and quality improvement initiatives to promote best-practice oncology care and service sustainability.
  • Contribute to organisational development through involvement in hospital activities, professional development, clinical governance and participation in senior medical staff rosters.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) in Medical Oncology, with MBBS (or equivalent) and current registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise commensurate with a consultant Medical Oncologist, with a strong focus on patient-centred, safe and evidence-based care.
  • Experience in supervising, mentoring and support junior medical staff and students both in formal and clinical learning environments.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, adapt to organisational change and actively contribute to service improvement and quality initiatives.
