Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for an Integrated Alcohol and Other Drugs Mental Health Senior Clinician to join our growing team on a permanent full-time basis.

 

This senior role is pivotal in strengthening integrated responses for people with co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug (AOD) needs who present to LRH services.

 

You will provide clinical leadership, specialist consultation, and supervision to multidisciplinary teams, while working closely with the Psychiatric Emergency Care Team (PECT), Emergency Department, Lived Experience workers, and external AOD services to deliver high-quality, integrated, recovery-oriented care.

 

About the role

The Integrated AOD/Mental Health Senior Clinician improves and integrates service responses for consumers with complex co-occurring AOD and mental health needs. The role combines advanced clinical practice, leadership, education, and service development.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership, supervision and professional support to multidisciplinary staff
  • Delivering advanced clinical care and consultation for consumers with complex AOD/MH presentations
  • Working collaboratively with PECT and Emergency Department teams to implement the agreed model of care
  • Supporting staff through mentoring, supervision and role modelling professional practice
  • Partnering with Lived Experience workers to enhance recovery-oriented care
  • Providing consultation to external AOD services for complex presentations
  • Developing and delivering integrated AOD/Mental Health education and training
  • Strengthening partnerships between Mental Health Services and specialist AOD providers
  • Contributing to guidelines, protocols, projects and service improvement initiatives
  • Supporting referrals and secondary consultation pathways including with the Hamilton Centre

About you

 

You are a senior clinician with strong leadership capability and advanced clinical expertise in working with people experiencing co-occurring mental health and AOD concerns. You are collaborative, adaptable, and committed to improving integrated care systems.

 

Essential qualifications and registrations:

  • Division 1 Registered Nurse with postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing and current AHPRA registration, or
  • Relevant qualification in Addiction Studies (or working towards)
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-specialist mental health experience

 

Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in AOD or willingness to complete

 

You will also bring:

  • Advanced knowledge of AOD withdrawal management and integrated treatment approaches
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of FVISS, CISS and MARAM frameworks
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in complex environments
  • Highly developed communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in clinical supervision, education and capacity building
  • Commitment to working with Lived Experience workers
  • Strong alignment with consumer and family-focused care
  • Commitment to LRH values, safety, quality and continuous improvement
