Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a Nurse Practitioner (AOD) to join our growing team on an ongoing full-time basis. You will deliver advanced, evidence-based AOD assessment, treatment and consultation within the Emergency Department. You’ll lead capacity-building across LRH and the broader Gippsland region while developing integrated referral pathways and driving service improvement.
This is a highly influential role with a mix of clinical practice, education, service coordination and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist AOD screening, assessment, intervention and referral.
- Lead the implementation of standardised, evidence-based AOD tools and care models.
- Build ED capability through training, mentorship and secondary consultation.
- Strengthen referral pathways and partnerships with community AOD services and regional hospital teams.
- Develop strategies to support complex behaviours, co-morbid mental health needs and Aboriginal patient care.
- Drive AOD projects including service development, NEAT improvement strategies and sub-regional collaboration.
- Provide professional leadership, education and supervision across the service.
- Contribute to research, clinical governance, quality improvement and KPI development.
- Uphold LRH values, professional standards and legislative requirements.

About You
You are a respected AOD or mental health nursing leader with advanced practice capability and a passion for improving care for people experiencing substance use issues.
You will bring:
Essential
- Registration with AHPRA as a Division 1 or Division 3 Registered Nurse.
- Post-basic qualification in psychiatric nursing or AOD (plus Certificate IV AOD if psych-qualified).
- Master of Nursing or Master of Nurse Practitioner.
- A minimum of 5 years’ senior nursing experience.
- Commitment to evidence-based AOD practice.
Desirable
- Postgraduate AOD qualifications.
- Experience in mental health triage or emergency psychiatric settings.
- Strong digital literacy and professional organisation membership.
Your personal qualities include integrity, compassion, adaptability, strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
