Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Nurse Unit Manager Timbarra (Paediatrics & Neonatal) to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) ongoing basis.
We are seeking an accomplished and motivated Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead the Timbarra Unit, encompassing Paediatrics and Special Care Nursery. The NUM provides strategic direction, clinical leadership and operational oversight to ensure delivery of safe, coordinated and person-centred care of the highest standard. This role is responsible for workforce management, service performance, financial oversight, patient flow, risk management and compliance with Department of Health and LRH Standards. Operating within a multidisciplinary environment, the NUM will champion continuous improvement, foster a positive culture and support the organisations strategic goals.

The role of the Nurse Unit Manager Timbarra is to:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for paediatrics and special care nursery, ensuing safe, high-quality, person-centred care across the Timbarra unit.
- Manage workforce capability, including recruitment, rostering, maintaining adequate staffing levels and skill mix, addressing performance issues, and ensuring education and mandatory training compliance.
- Oversee patient flow and collaborate with the broader organisation to meet activity targets, support timely access to care, and ensure coordination across clinical areas.
- Lead risk management and quality improvement, including reviewing incidents, managing complaints, implementing corrective systems, and ensuring compliance with safe practice standards and relevant legislation.
- Provide financial and resource stewardship, including preparing staff and operational budgets, monitoring expenditure, and promoting efficient and responsible use of hospital resources.
- Drive service development and change management, including developing business plans, facilitating policy and protocol development, and introducing improvements aligned with current best practice.
- Support staff growth and professional development through mentoring, performance reviews, education facilitation, supporting new practitioners and fostering a fair, positive and future-oriented team culture.
- Promote effective interdisciplinary collaboration, maintaining open communication with medical officers, nurses, allied health and all health care team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality clinical care.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Registered Nurse with AHPRA and demonstrated recent clinical experience in paediatrics and/or neonatal care.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification and proven leadership/management experience within paediatrics and/or neonatal care.
- Demonstrated capability in managing staff, finances, rosters, service performance and organisational change.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and report-writing skills, with strong decision-making and problem-solving ability.
- Strong understanding of NSQHS Standards, safe practice requirements and clinical governance processes.
- Highly motivated, flexible and committed to delivering exceptional patient care, staff wellbeing and service improvement.
