Latrobe Regional Health is looking for O&G HMO to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) fixed term basis until January 2027.

 

The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Hospital Medical Officer (HMO) provides highquality medical care to patients within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology unit at Latrobe Regional Health. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role supports the diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients under the supervision of senior medical staff. This position offers a dynamic clinical experience tailored to individual training needs, with opportunities to develop skills across obstetrics and gynaecology while contributing to safe, effective and patientcentred care.

The role of the O&G HMO is to:

  • Provide daytoday medical care to obstetrics and gynaecology patients under appropriate supervision, aligned with clinical experience level.
  • Coordinate patient care within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across services.
  • Deliver clear and timely clinical communication, including accurate documentation and clinical handover.
  • Escalate clinical concerns appropriately to registrars and consultants to ensure patient safety and quality care.
  • Participate in afterhours rosters and contribute to service delivery in line with safe working hour provisions.
  • Engage in training, teaching, audit and quality improvement activities, including attendance at teaching sessions and completion of required certifications.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • A Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent with general registration with AHPRA.
  • Clinical competence appropriate to your level of training, with the ability to deliver safe and effective patient care.
  • A demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, professional development and participation in teaching and training activities.
  • The ability to work flexibly, including participation in afterhours rosters.
  • A genuine interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a commitment to pursuing further experience and development in the specialty.
  • Experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and completion (or willingness to complete) PROMPT, FSEP and Neonatal Resuscitation training (desirable).
