Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for an Operations Manager (2IC) Acute and Bed Based Mental Health to join our growing team on a fixed term full-time.

 

About the Role

Latrobe Regional Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager (Second in Charge) to support the General Manager, Acute and Bed Based Mental Health in leading high quality, person centred and recovery focused care.

This pivotal role provides operational oversight and leadership across Latrobe Regional Health’s Acute and Bed Based Mental Health program, which includes:
the Emergency Department, Psychiatric Emergency Care Team, Flynn Adult Inpatient Unit, Macalister Aged Care Unit, Electroconvulsive Therapy, Prevention and Recovery Care Service, Community Residential Care Unit, Agnes Parent and Infant Unit, Secure Extended Care Unit, and Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Hub and Youth Prevention and Recovery Care Units.

You will work closely with Unit Managers, supporting service operations, bed flow management, rostering, onboarding and quality initiatives, while contributing to the broader transformation of mental health services in Gippsland.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support effective bed flow management and operational coordination.
  • Assist in achieving performance and financial targets.
  • Support Unit Managers in workforce planning, rostering and reporting.
  • Drive quality, safety and risk management frameworks.
  • Contribute to Latrobe Regional Health’s implementation of the Mental Health Royal Commission recommendations.
  • Provide leadership coverage for the General Manager when required.

About you

You are a compassionate, proactive leader with a deep understanding of acute and bed-based mental health care. You excel in managing people, systems and resources, and thrive in dynamic, multidisciplinary environments.

 

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist), or eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (Social Work).
  • Minimum three years of experience in acute or bed-based mental health.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Sound understanding of Victorian public mental health operations and clinical governance.

 

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health or Health Management.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage change and resolve complex issues.
