Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a Senior Mental Health Clinician to join our growing

team on a full-time or part-time basis.

 

About the Role

 

You will play a vital role in providing high-quality, specialist mental health services to individuals in acute or urgent mental health crisis. In collaboration with the PECT Manager and Consultant Psychiatrist, this position is responsible for the provision of comprehensive assessments, care coordination, evidence-based treatment, psycho-education, and consumer and family collaboration.

 

The Senior Clinician will also provide leadership and direction to the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered, while also supporting staff development and managing the team’s workload.

 

As a Senior Clinician, you will:

 

  • Provide leadership and supervision for multi-disciplinary staff in the delivery of mental health services.
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, and induction of staff, as well as deputise for the PECT Manager when required.
  • Lead inter-agency liaison activities and foster collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Ensure timely, evidence-based mental health assessments in the Emergency Department and provide frontline support to ED staff.
  • Conduct mental health assessments, develop safety plans in collaboration with the consumer and their support network, and monitor their physical and mental health status.
  • Provide psychoeducation and pharmacological interventions tailored to the consumer's needs.
  • Support ongoing clinical supervision and participate in team projects to improve service delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and supervise team members to promote quality service delivery and the agreed model of care.
  • Manage clinical systems and information processes to support efficient service delivery.
  • Provide expert mental health assessments and advice, ensuring a timely and collaborative approach to care.
  • Work closely with consumers, families, and other health professionals to develop comprehensive, culturally appropriate treatment plans.
  • Adhere to organizational guidelines, ensuring accurate documentation of all treatment and support provided.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold safety and quality standards across all areas of service delivery.

About you

We are looking for an experienced mental health clinician with strong leadership capabilities who is committed to delivering compassionate and high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:

 

  • Qualifications:
    • Registered Nurse Division 1 with post-graduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing, or
    • Specialist post-basic course of training leading to registration as a Division 3 Nurse.

 

  • Experience & Knowledge:
    • Minimum 4 years’ post-registration experience in the mental health field.
    • Computer literacy and proficiency in using mental health systems and documentation tools.
    • Desirable: Experience in mental health triage or emergency psychiatry.
    • Desirable for Psychologists: A minimum APS-accredited Masters in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
