Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Personal Care Worker to join our growing team on a casual basis.
The Personal Care Worker supports ward staff and patients during peak periods by assisting with a range of direct patient care and ward support activities. The role contributes to the delivering of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care by supporting personal hygiene needs, assisting with patient monitoring, maintaining clean and well-stocked environments, and facilitating internal patient movement within the hospital. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Personal Care Worker plays an important role in maintaining patient safety, comfort and dignity while upholding LRH’s values and service standards.

The role of the Personal Care Worker is to:
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, dignity and comfort needs in accordance with care plans and ward routines.
- Provide constant patient observation when required, supporting the safety of cognitively impaired or at-risk patients through communication and redirection.
- Support meal times by assisting with patient set-up and observation, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Maintain ward environments by cleaning patients’ spaces, making beds, replenishing consumables and restocking trolleys or cubicles.
- Transport patients’ safety within the hospital setting and assist with maintaining accurate MyCare communication boards.
- Deliver a high-quality, customer focused service by adhering to LRH policies, procedures, cleaning standards, privacy and confidentiality requirements.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- A minimum Certificate III qualification in Aged Care, Home & Community Care or Disability.
- Excellent communication skills, flexibility to work across different areas based on demand, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, adhere to procedures and standards, and complete tasks within designated timeframes.
- Physical capability to perform duties such as cleaning, bed making, pushing trolleys and wheelchairs, and handling patient linen (previous healthcare experience desirable).
