Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a dedicated Provisional Anaesthesia (Regional & General) Fellow to join our team on a fixed term, full time, basis for a period of 12 months. 

 

Our Regional & General Anaesthesia Fellowship position, provides the Fellow with a comprehensive transition to becoming a specialist in a supportive environment. There is exposure to a breadth of clinical anaesthesia experience at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH). LRH is a medium sized regional hospital, located 90 minutes east of Melbourne which is partnered with The Alfred Hospital Department of Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. There will be an opportunity to learn from experts in regional anaesthesia, provide anaesthesia care for specialties such as Paediatrics, ENT and vascular and thoracic surgery, while building confidence in decision making and managing emergency workload under FANZCA specialist supervision.

 

Latrobe Regional Health’s Department of Anaesthesia has a keen interest in providing regional anaesthesia and perioperative care through pain services. We have daily orthopaedic and trauma lists, that offer a great deal of opportunity to be trained and undertake a wide variety of regional anaesthesia techniques. It is possible to accumulate a significant emergency and elective caseload with the aim of providing independence with consultant floor coordination supervision. lrh.com.au While at LRH, Fellows undertake on average once/fortnight on call, where they function as a junior consultant with FANZCA remote supervision.

 

There is an average of 86 hours/fortnight which include on call and out of hours work. Education and training of all our Trainees is central to our department’s activities. As well as high levels of clinical supervision, there is a quality improvement session, during which interesting and challenging cases are discussed in an open, constructive forum.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Post ANZCA Fellowship exam, or sitting the Fellowship exam within the next twelve (12) months. Any international applicants should be at the equivalent level. 
  • Be able to perform on call duties with remote site supervision. 
  • Be willing to undertake non-clinical roles/projects and be able to demonstrate experience in any of the following:
    • Quality assurance.
    • Safety.
    • Research.
    • Informatics.
    • Education.
