Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for Psychiatric Nurse Consultant to join our growing team on a full-time (1.0EFT) fixed term until April 2026.
The Psychiatric Nurse Consultant will drive education, training and professional development programs across the service, while providing advanced clinical consultation to support contemporary, recovery-orientated mental health care. This role plays a key part in building capability fostering continuous learning, and ensuring high-quality outcomes for consumers, carers and the workforce.

The role of the Psychiatric Nurse Consultant is:
- Lead the development, coordination and delivery of mental health education and training programs including graduate, undergraduate and specialist pathways.
- Oversee and support the Mental Health Clinical Education team, ensuring high standards of practice and professional development.
- Develop and implement evidence-based training plans aligned with workforce capability needs and reform priorities.
- Provide high-level clinical consultation and advice to support service delivery and improvement.
- Represent the health service on organisational committees, embed education and training across the wider health service.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical supervision programs and research activities.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Post graduate qualifications in mental health nursing, with a Master’s in Nursing or Education (or working towards).
- Demonstrated 5 years’ experience in mental health nursing with advanced clinical expertise.
- Strong experience in delivering education and training, with knowledge of program development and evaluation.
- A sound understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, national standards, and contemporary policy frameworks.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.
