Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for Public Health Officer to join our growing team on a full-time ongoing basis.
The Public Health Officer plays a vital role in protecting and promoting the health of our community. Working within the Gippsland Regional Public Health Unit, you will contribute to the prevention, investigation and management of communicable diseases, public health incidents and emergencies. This role requires strong communication skills, cultural awareness and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve positive public health outcomes.

The role of the Public Health Officer is:
- Investigate and manage notifiable conditions, communicable diseases and public health incidents in line with legislation and policy.
- Conduct case interviews, contact tracing, and positive timely advice, education and referrals to stakeholders and the community.
- Contribute to outbreak responses, prevention strategies and the development of public health reports and initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records, ensuring compliance with data security and legislative requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support health protection efforts.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- A degree in public health or related field (post graduate qualifications desirable).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and work effectively with diverse communities.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills in assessing risk and managing complex situations.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Cultural awareness, empathy and respect when engaging with people from varied backgrounds.
- Resilience and flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving public health environment.
