Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Payroll Manager on a full-time ongoing basis to oversee the delivery of an accurate, consistent, and high-quality payroll service across the Gippsland Health region. This pivotal role ensures compliance with legislation, industrial agreements, and organisational protocols while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
As a strategic leader, you will be the subject matter expert for payroll across the region, guiding process enhancements, managing system upgrades, and fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and service excellence.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the payroll function for multiple health services, managing payroll systems, policies, and reporting processes. Your expertise will support financial performance monitoring, labour costing, and compliance, while building strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the payroll function to ensure timely and accurate payment in line with Awards, Agreements, and legislation.
- Manage, maintain, and enhance payroll systems, including SAP, KRONOS, and SuccessFactors, ensuring optimal performance.
- Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, and end-of-financial-year processes, delivering accurate reporting to stakeholders.
- Drive process improvements, efficiency gains, and regional collaboration through forums, technical upgrades, and best practice sharing.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to staff and managers on payroll-related matters, ensuring compliance and service excellence.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Extensive senior-level payroll management experience, particularly in multi-site or regional operations.
- Strong expertise in payroll compliance, including interpretation and application of Awards, Agreements, and industrial relations legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead payroll teams, with a focus on staff development, performance management, and maintaining internal controls to ensure data integrity and audit readiness.
- Proficient in payroll systems and advanced excel, with track record of managing audits, reconciliations, and detailed reporting.
- Skilled in driving payroll systems implementations and process improvements, with excellent organisational and problem-solving capabilities.
