Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our growing team on a casual basis.
About the Role
We help support families during one of the most important stages of life. Our five-bed residential Mother Baby Unit provides specialised support for parents and infants up to 12 months old who may be experiencing challenges adjusting to parenthood, infant sleep and settling difficulties, postnatal mental health concerns, or disruptions in parent-infant bonding.
This is an opportunity to work in a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering compassionate, family-centred mental health care.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse Grade 2, you will provide direct care, support and education to parents and infants within a therapeutic residential setting.
You will work closely with families to:
- Support parenting confidence and skills
- Assist with infant sleep and settling strategies
- Monitor and support maternal and infant mental wellbeing
- Facilitate therapeutic group activities
- Contribute to care planning, reviews and discharge planning
- Respond to mental health and medical concerns in line with clinical policies
The unit’s approach is grounded in attachment theory, mentalisation and the Solihull model, with a strong focus on strengthening family relationships and early intervention.
This role works across a seven-day rotating roster including morning, afternoon and night shifts.

What You Will Bring
Essential:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or Registered Psychiatric Nurse qualification
- Knowledge of perinatal mental health issues
- Understanding of the Mental Health Act 2014 and relevant legislation
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Commitment to safe, high-quality patient care
Desirable:
- Experience in mental health, perinatal or family-focused care settings
- Experience facilitating therapeutic groups
- Understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service standards for Mental Health Services
