Latrobe Regional Health (LRH) is looking for a Registered Psychiatric Nurse – Youth Prevention and Recovery Care to join our growing team on a full-time ongoing basis.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC) Service at Latrobe Regional Health.
The YPARC Service provides short-term residential treatment, care, and support to young people aged 16–25 years who are experiencing mental and emotional health challenges. Working in collaboration with our partner provider, MIND Australia, the YPARC offers a supportive, home-like environment designed to meet the developmental needs of young people during the early stages of recovery.
As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will deliver recovery-oriented nursing care, promote safety and wellbeing, and empower young people and their families to achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental state, social, and physical assessments
- Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with consumers and support networks
- Administer and monitor medication and provide related education
- Deliver counselling and therapeutic interventions
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and recovery-focused environment
- Contribute to training, mentoring, and orientation of staff and students
- Maintain professional knowledge and participate in ongoing development

About you
To be successful, you will have:
- Registration with AHPRA as a Division 1 Nurse with postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing
- Sound clinical knowledge and skills in psychiatric nursing
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a recovery-oriented approach
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
- Minimum 2 years post registration experience in Mental Health field
- Awareness of the Royal Commission into Mental Health and the expected changes to practice and service delivery
- Commitment to reflective practice
- Working knowledge of the impact of AOD addiction, management and treatment
- Working knowledge of the Guardianship and Administration Board
- Previous experience utilising the MHA (assessment orders, variations etc.)
- Graduate certificate of developmental psychiatry course (DPC)
