Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Social Worker (Grade 2) to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) or part time ongoing basis.
LRH is seeking an experienced and values driven Social Worker (Grade 2) to join our Allied Health team. This rotational role provides high-quality, person-centred, and trauma-responsive social work services across a broad range of hospital settings. You will manage complex cases, deliver psychological assessments, counselling, and discharge planning, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient wellbeing. As a Grade 2 Social Worker, you will mentor junior colleagues and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.

The role of the Social Worker (Grade 2) is:
- Deliver person-centred, culturally safe, and evidence-informed psychological care aligned with the AASW Codes of Ethics.
- Manage a caseload of moderate to high complexity, including crisis intervention and complex discharge planning.
- Undertake comprehensive psychological assessments and provide advocacy for issues such as trauma, family violence, mental health, and disability.
- Facilitate safe and timely discharge by addressing psychological barriers and coordinating referrals.
- Provide mentoring and supervision to Grade 1 Social Workers, students and allied health assistants.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects, team development, and departmental guidelines.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Bachelor or qualifying Mater’s in Social Work and eligibility for full AASW membership.
- Demonstrated experience in hospital or healthcare settings, with strong skills in crisis intervention and complex discharge planning.
- Ability to prioritise a dynamic caseload and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues and students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to reflective practice and continuous learning.
- Postgraduate training in supervision or education, and experience in quality improvement projects (desirable).
