As a Trade Cook at Latrobe Regional Health (LRH), you will play a vital role in the delivery of fresh, nutritious, and appetising meals for patients, staff, and visitors. Working within our modern Food Services department, you will contribute to the preparation and service of a variety of meals, including those tailored to specific dietary needs, ensuring they meet both quality standards and individual requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to utilise your culinary skills in a rewarding healthcare environment where your work directly supports patient recovery and wellbeing. You will work closely with the Food Services Manager, Executive Chef, and a dedicated team to maintain exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and serve meals in line with standard recipes, portion control, and special dietary requirements, maintaining high quality and presentation standards.
- Ensure compliance with the LRH Food Safety Program, relevant legislation, and food handling procedures, including accurate recording of safety and cleaning data.
- Manage ordering, receipt, storage, and rotation of goods, ensuring quality, correct temperatures, and minimal waste.
- Work collaboratively with the team to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Completion of an accredited safe food handling course (essential).
- Trade Cooking qualifications (desirable).
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
- Experience in a food service-related role, ideally within a healthcare setting.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing demands.
