Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Trauma Surgeon to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) fixed term basis.

The Trauma Surgeon provides high-quality, person-centred trauma and surgical care to patients of LRH across inpatient and outpatient settings. This senior specialist role is responsible for delivering care in accordance with best-practice clinical guidelines, supervising and training junior medical staff, and contributing to the achievement of LRH strategic priorities. Working within a multidisciplinary framework, the trauma surgeon ensures continuity of care, supports clinical governance, and actively participates in service development, teaching and quality improvement within orthopaedic and trauma services.

The role of the Trauma Surgeon is to:

• Deliver high-quality trauma and surgical care in accordance with clinical practice guidelines, safety standards and LRH policies.
• Develop, implement and review person-centred treatment plans that address the needs of patients and their families, including coordination with community providers.
• Ensure accurate, timely and legally compliant clinical documentation to support communication, continuity of care and medico-legal requirements.
• Provide leadership, supervision and education to junior medical staff, medical students and multidisciplinary learners, ensuring safe and effective clinical practice.
• Participate in service planning, protocol development, audits and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance trauma and orthopaedic services.
• Contribute to senior medical staff ward service and on-call rosters, and engage in professional development and hospital-wide activities.

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS), with MBBS (or equivalent) and current registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated clinical expertise commensurate with a Trauma Surgeon, including the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong leadership capability, with experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior medical staff and students.
• A person-centred approach to care, with commitment to quality improvement, continuum of care standard and organisational values.
• Adaptability and comfort with change management in a dynamic surgical and trauma environment.
• Postgraduate qualifications in research, management or public health (desirable)
