Gippsland Local Health Service Network is looking for Senior Medical Advisor to join our growing team on a part time (0.4EFT) fixed term basis.

 

The Senior Medical Advisor plays a pivotal role in guiding, informing and enabling key clinical and strategic activities across the Gippsland Local Health Service Network. As a senior medical leader, the position strengthens collaboration with Chief Medical Officers, senior clinicians and regional partners to support high-quality, safe and integrated health service delivery across Gippsland. The role provides expert clinical insight to system-wide strategies, transformation initiatives, performance excellence frameworks and consumer-partnered care, ensure that Network outcomes align with regional priorities and the shared purpose of Care for Gippsland Together.

The role of the Senior Medical Advisor is to:

  • Strengthen Network-wide clinical engagement in the development and implementation of strategy, transformational change, continuous improvement and consumer partnerships.
  • Provide expert advice on partnering with consumers and communities to enhance patient experience and ensure care models reflect local needs.
  • Support design and implementation of clinical performance excellence frameworks through strong clinical engagement.
  • Liaise with Network Chief Medical Officers to ensure an integrated, effective and consistent Clinical Governance system across Gippsland.
  • Contribute to the development and oversight of transformational initiatives to improve access, quality, safety and system sustainability across the Network.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of relevant medical speciality.
  • Strong understanding of quality improvement methodologies, research, evaluation and the National Safety & Quality Health Service Standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence and collaborate across a broad range of clinicians, partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, contribute to senior-level decision-making and ensure diverse viewpoints are considered.
  • A solutions-focused mindset, maturity in managing difficult conversations and the capability to operate effectively in complex, multi-organisational health environments.
