Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Senior Prevention & Population Health Officer to join our growing team on a part time (0.8EFT) ongoing basis.
The Senior Prevention and Population Health Officer plays a key role in delivering evidence‑informed health promotion and prevention initiatives across Gippsland. Working closely with the Prevention & Population Health Lead, the role supports the implementation of the Gippsland Population Health Strategy 2024–2029 through a place‑based and equity‑focused approach. This position partners with community organisations, government agencies and local stakeholders to design, implement and evaluate initiatives that improve population health outcomes. The role contributes to a coordinated public health system by building local capacity, supporting partnerships and ensuring prevention strategies are responsive to community needs.

The role of the Senior Prevention & Population Health Officer is to:
- Design, deliver and evaluate health promotion and prevention activities that are evidence‑based and responsive to local community needs.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with community organisations, government and stakeholders to support place‑based public health initiatives.
- Lead community engagement activities that support inclusive, accessible and culturally appropriate health promotion across Gippsland.
- Support strategic planning and implementation of population health initiatives, using data to inform decision‑making and drive outcomes.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to team members and students, contributing to workforce capability and a positive team culture.
- Contribute to research, reporting and evaluation activities, including data collection, analysis and development of reports and case studies to support continuous improvement.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in public health, health promotion, community development or a related discipline.
- At least five years’ experience in healthcare, public health, local government or a related sector.
- Strong knowledge of population health, prevention and the Victorian public health system.
- Demonstrated project management skills, with experience designing, implementing and evaluating programs with measurable outcomes.
- Advanced stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse partners and communities.
- Strong data and analytical capability, with the ability to use evidence to inform planning and reporting.
- Experience in public health units or cross‑sector partnerships, and skills in digital communications, community engagement or emerging service delivery platforms (desirable).
