Clinical Support Nurse/Clinical Support Enrolled Nurse

Permanent part-time, up to 48 hours per fortnight

An exciting opportunity is available within the Learning and Development Unit at West Gippsland Healthcare Group for a Clinical Support Nurse / Clinical Support Enrolled Nurse – Aged Care.

 

This is a supernumerary, ward-based role where you will work directly with staff at the bedside to strengthen clinical practice, build capability, and support the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care. 

 

About the role

Reporting to the Learning and Development Manager, you will play a key role in supporting nurses, graduates, and students within Residential Aged Care by:

 

  • Providing hands-on clinical support, supervision, and real-time coaching
  • Acting as a visible clinical resource and role model for evidence-based practice
  • Supporting staff to develop confidence, competence, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Reinforcing education through practice-based learning at the point of care
  • Promoting safe, effective care aligned to Aged Care Quality Standards

 

Working in collaboration with Nurse Unit Managers and Clinical Educators, you will help translate education into practice and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver bedside coaching, mentoring and supervision to nursing staff
  • Support orientation, onboarding, and development of new and existing staff
  • Assist with student and graduate nurse support and assessment
  • Identify and respond to learning needs and clinical skill gaps
  • Support implementation of education programs and competency frameworks
  • Promote person-centred care in partnership with residents, families, and carers

 

Our preferred candidate will have:

 

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse.
  • Minimum 5 years post-registration experience, including strong aged care experience
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, mentoring, or preceptorship
  • Strong understanding of Aged Care Quality Standards and quality improvement
  • Proven ability to engage, coach and support staff in a clinical environment

 

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Aged Care/Gerontology (or working towards)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience supporting education programs or workplace-based learning
  • Proficiency in clinical systems and Microsoft Office
