An excellent opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and highly motivated applicant to join our busy Food Services team in a permanent part-time role. Reporting to the Operations Team Leader the Head Chef is an integral role within the Food Services team, with responsibility for;
• The management of the food production team.
• The production of meals that meet both the dietary and texture specific needs of patients and nursing home residents.
• The provision of food for the cafeteria and functions.
• Menu planning in consultation with the Operations Team Leader, Dieticians & Speech Pathologists.
• Assisting the Operations Team Leader in the management of Chefmax - Menu management system.
• Ensure all production activities comply with all relevant legislative requirements and in accordance with all West Gippsland Healthcare Group policies & procedures.
• The management of the Food Safety Plan alongside of Operations Team Leader and Compliance officer
Mandatory skills
• Current Safe Food Handlers Certificate - HLTTFE001 or equivalent
• Previous food preparation experience within a commercial environment
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Trade Cooking Certificate
Desirable
• Previous healthcare experience and special diet preparation
• Food Safety Supervisors Qualifications
• Previous experience with the cook chill food production system
• Previous experience working in large work group

All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six-month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
