Fixed Term Part Time, up to 24 hours per fortnight (secondment backfill)
Commencing ASAP to April 2027
Allied Health Professionals, Grade 3 SC31 - SC33 ($52.70 p/h - $56.01 p/h) excludes allowances
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a grade 3 social worker to provide skilled social work services to patients in the paediatric and antenatal areas of the West Gippsland Healthcare Group. The Paediatric and Antenatal Social Worker delivers a high standard of clinical input to the multidisciplinary treatment team, supporting both children and expectant mothers through complex psychosocial challenges. The role requires experience and expertise in hospital-based paediatric and antenatal social work, including highly skilled interventions with patients, their families, carers, and community agencies. This includes providing psychosocial support to vulnerable families during pregnancy, facilitating early intervention strategies, and assisting with care planning. The position requires a demonstrated capacity to work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team. The Social Worker accepts responsibility for and maintains commitment to personal and professional development.
This is a fixed term part time position of up to 24 hours per fortnight, exact hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant for an expected 12 month period.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Degree in Social Work
- Knowledge of Child Youth and Families legislation
- Experience of the Child Protection and knowledge of the associated legal system
- Paediatric and Health service experience
- Knowledge of Child Safe Organisations and Child Safe Standards, National Principles and Healthcare that Counts
- Experience in family and individual counseling and group work
- Experience in delivering education and training in a multi-disciplinary setting
- Supervisory experience in supporting staff
- Eligibility of membership with Australian Association of Social Workers
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
The following experience/knowledge would be considered advantageous:
- Previous Experience within a hospital or health care environment.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and documentation.
- Coordination, oversight and management of projects.
- Experience of QI initiatives
- Knowledge of issues relevant to rural areas is an advantage
IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
