An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced perioperative nurse leader to join West Gippsland Healthcare Group as our Nurse Manager Theatre & Day Surgery.

 

Reporting to the Perioperative Services Manager, you will provide leadership across our perioperative services including Operating Theatre, Day Surgery, Anaesthetics and PACU/Recovery. This is a key leadership role that offers the opportunity to influence clinical practice, workforce development, service improvement and the future direction of surgical services within a growing regional health service.

 

We are seeking a confident and collaborative leader who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and supporting teams to perform at their best. You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient and patient-centred care, while fostering a positive workplace culture focused on continuous improvement and clinical excellence.

 

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior perioperative nurse leader who enjoys balancing people leadership with operational management and is motivated by the opportunity to make a real difference to both patient outcomes and staff experience. As part of a supportive leadership team, you will have the autonomy to lead your department while contributing to broader organisational goals and service development initiatives.

Our preferred candidate will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Significant perioperative nursing experience, including leadership or management experience
  • Strong clinical governance, workforce management and operational leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A commitment to patient-centred care, quality improvement and developing high-performing teams

 

The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:

  • Previous Nurse Manager or equivalent senior leadership experience
  • Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing, Nursing Management and/or Health Management

 

IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
