• Perioperative Nursing Pathway (12-month Perioperative rotation)

West Gippsland Healthcare Group are now accepting applications for our 2027 Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program, Acute Nursing Stream.

 Our program is based at the West Gippsland Hospital (Warragal) where we offer interesting, challenging and well-supported Graduate Programs in Registered Nursing and Midwifery.   

The Acute Nursing stream includes 2 rotations in areas such as the Emergency Department, Medical unit, Surgical unit and Day surgery Unit.

The Perioperative Stream offers a theatre-based graduate year rotating through Scrub/scout, recovery and anesthetics.

Eligibility 
As per PMCV Computer Match guidelines, you must be either: 

• A Victorian-trained Nursing Graduate (citizen/permanent resident) 
• A current Victorian resident – Distance Education Nursing Graduate 
• An Australian Interstate Trained Nursing Graduate (citizen/permanent resident) 
• A New Zealand-trained Nursing Graduate (citizen/permanent resident) 

You must also: 

• Be eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia 
• Have not previously participated in a Graduate Nurse or Graduate Midwifery Program 
• Have completed your Nursing degree by December 2026 academic year

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare/aged care sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

All appointments with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group are subject to the satisfactory return of professional reference checks, a current Police check and a current Employee Working with Children Check. All employees must hold a current entitlement to work within Australia. A six-month probationary period applies to all new appointments. Please note that to be considered for the Perioperative stream, applicants must have completed a student placement in the perioperative setting during either their second or third year, or demonstrate relevant exposure.  

The following items are mandatory for all applications: 

• Letter of application (cover letter) addressed to Graduate Coordinator Jessie Hill.

• Applicants must provide a separate cover letter for each stream of application***

• Resume inclusive of a passport-sized photo and 2 professional Clinical Nursing referees (preferably from mid-second year and third year. 
• 3 Clinical Appraisals (preferably most recent, or with a date when you may be able to provide the most recent if you are currently on placement) 

• Up-to-date certified Academic Transcript (Education Certificate)

Applications are open until Wednesday, 1st of July 2025 at 5 pm. No late submissions will be considered. 

Outcomes: 

All candidates will be notified of the match outcome via the PMCV Computer Matching website on 16th September 2025.
