West Gippsland Healthcare Group is seeking an experienced and accredited Infection Prevention and Control team member for a short-term Long Service Leave (LSL) replacement. This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the health, safety and wellbeing of our residents, patients, clients, staff, volunteers and contractors through the delivery of high-quality services.
Working within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, you will play an important role in maintaining best-practice infection prevention and control standards while supporting our commitment to connected, person-centred care.
Position Details
- Clinical Nurse Consultant – Infection Prevention & Control
- Casual, short-term backfill opportunity (3 days)
- Based within the Infection Prevention and Control team
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Audit infection prevention lead criteria in aged care, acute, community and linen services settings.
- Deliver vaccination and immunisation services in accordance with current guidelines, organisational policies and legislative requirements.
- Provide education and advice regarding infection prevention.
- Support infection prevention and control initiatives across the organisation.
- Promote safe work practices and contribute to a culture of quality and safety.
Essential Criteria
- Post Graduate studies in Infection Prevention and Control.
- Hand Hygiene auditor
- Completion of an Accredited Immunisation Program recognised in Victoria
- Current nursing registration that enables you to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to confidentiality requirements.
- Responsible, professional and mature work attitude.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in infection prevention.
- Previous experience administering immunisations.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and document control processes.
- Previous experience working within a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Experience with online data entry systems and electronic record management.
