Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program 2027

Dual degree Midwifery and Nursing Stream

West Gippsland Healthcare Group are now accepting applications for our 2027 Graduate Nurse and Midwifery Program, Dual Degree Stream.

 Our program is based at the West Gippsland Hospital (Warragal) where we offer interesting, challenging and well-supported Graduate Programs for Registered Midwives/Nurse Dual degree commencing their graduate year in 2027.

The program consists of a full-year midwifery unit placement, incorporating a three-month Operating Theatre mentorship rotation of one supernumerary day per week as part of the graduate program’s nursing hours.

Eligibility 
As per PMCV Computer Match guidelines, you must be either: 

• A Victorian-trained Midwifery/Nurse Graduate (citizen/permanent resident) 
• A current Victorian resident – Distance Education Midwifery/Nurse Graduate 
• An Australian Interstate Trained Midwifery Graduate (citizen/permanent resident) 
• A New Zealand-trained Midwifery/Nurse Graduate (citizen/permanent resident) 

You must also: 

• Be eligible for registration as a Registered Midwife/Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia prior to commencement of graduate year.
• Have not previously participated in a Graduate Nurse or Graduate Midwifery Program 
• Have completed your Midwifery/Nurse degree by December 2026 academic year. 

IMPORTANT: All staff employed in the healthcare/aged care sector are required to be fully (3 doses) vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.

All appointments with the West Gippsland Healthcare Group are subject to the satisfactory return of professional reference checks, a Police Record Check and a current Employee Working with Children Check. All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six-month probationary period applies to all new appointments. • Resume inclusive of a passport-sized photo and 2 professional Clinical Nursing referees (preferably from mid-second year and third year, as per PMCV referee criteria)
• 3 Clinical Appraisals (preferably most recent, or with a date when you may be able to provide the most recent if you are currently on placement.)
• Up-to-date certified Academic Transcript (Education Certificate)

Applications are open until Wednesday, 1st of July 2025 at 5 pm. No late submissions will be considered. 

Outcomes: 

All candidates will be notified of the match outcome via the PMCV Computer Matching website on 16th September 2025.
