Senior Maternity Advisor (Projects)

West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG)
Fixed Term Full Time – 12 months | Warragul, VIC

West Gippsland Healthcare Group is seeking an experienced qualified midwife who is outcome-focused to lead the delivery of a coordinated maternity improvement program. This is a unique opportunity to drive change in maternity services and improve outcomes for women, babies, and families across both WGHG and the broader Gippsland region. In this role, you will operate as a recognised clinical expert and trusted advisor, working closely with executive leaders, clinicians, and regional partners to implement and embed a defined program of work over 12 months. Your focus will be on execution—translating established priorities, frameworks, and planning into measurable improvements in care delivery, safety, access, and consumer experience.

At the centre of the role is responsibility for delivering outcomes across five key maternity improvement pillars. You will drive the implementation of strengthened safety and clinical governance processes, embed and optimise contemporary models of care (including midwifery continuity), enhance workforce capability and sustainability, support a positive and engaged team culture, and advance regional integration through improved collaboration and referral pathways. These pillars provide a structured and phased roadmap, with clear expectations around implementation, performance monitoring, and sustainability of change.

Success in this role will come from your ability to take a structured plan and deliver results, engaging stakeholders, maintaining momentum, and adapting implementation approaches as needed. You will work in close partnership with multidisciplinary teams to build capability, support adoption of change, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. We are seeking a highly capable senior midwife with significant clinical experience, strong leadership and project delivery skills, and a passion for improving maternity services. You will bring a solid understanding of Victorian maternity frameworks and demonstrated experience delivering complex improvement initiatives within dynamic healthcare environments.

At WGHG, our purpose is “Connecting, to care at every stage of life”, and we are committed to delivering high-quality, connected care to our community. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact by ensuring that planned maternity service improvements are successfully implemented and embedded into everyday practice. If you are a results-driven leader who thrives on delivering change and making a difference, we encourage you to apply.
