An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Social Worker to provide services at the West Gippsland Healthcare Group (WGHG) hospital site. The grade 2 Social Worker will work across various wards, predominately the Emergency Department.
The position requires approved training, experience and expertise in hospital based social work including highly skilled interventions with patients and their families in a fast-paced environment The position requires a demonstrated capacity to work effectively as a member of the multidisciplinary team. The Social Worker accepts responsibility for and maintains commitment to personal and professional development.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week with a monthly ADO. We offer a friendly, team focused work environment, comprehensive orientation to the department and organisation, in house salary packaging and free car parking.
Our preferred candidate will have:
- Degree in Social Work
- Eligibility of membership with Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- A thorough understanding and respect for confidentiality requirements.
The following experience/knowledge would be considered advantageous:
- Experience in a hospital or acute setting.
- Knowledge of privacy legislation and document control.
- Knowledge of issues relevant to rural areas.
IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required to be provided prior to commencement.
