Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Remote Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder to join our growing team on a casual basis.

 

The Health Information Manager / Clinical Coder is responsible for delivering accurate, comprehensive and timely clinical coding across LRH. Working remotely within the Health Information Unit, the role contributes to highquality patient care by ensuring coded data is reliable and compliant with national standards. Using electronic medical records, the position applies advanced coding knowledge and Activity Based Funding principles to support accurate data capture, reporting and funding outcomes, while maintaining coding quality benchmarks and contributing to an efficient health information service.

The role of the Clinical Applications Manager is to:

  • Accurately code inpatient episodes of care using ICD-10-AM classifications, ensuring compliance with Clinical Coding Standards and organisational requirements.
  • Maintain high coding accuracy targets, including a minimum of 80% code allocation accuracy and 90% DRG accuracy rate.
  • Identify documentation gaps and prepare clinical enquiries to improve data quality and coding accuracy.
  • Apply knowledge of Activity Based Funding and its impact on coding, DRG allocation and WIES funding outcomes.
  • Utilise coding software (e.g. 3M Codefinder) and electronic medical record systems to assign codes efficiently.
  • Manage workload effectively to meet coding deadlines, review audit outcomes and ensure compliance with remote coding protocols.

 

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Completion of a recognised Clinical Coding course (HIMAA or equivalent) and advanced knowledge of medical terminology.
  • At least three years’ experience coding across a broad casemix using ICD10AM classification.
  • Strong understanding of Activity Based Funding, DRG allocation and the impact of coding on healthcare funding.
  • Excellent organisational, timemanagement and computer skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and throughput targets.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.
